I am at level 33. I found that you have to upgrade your community shelter to get my openings for more people. I used the nubucks to get items needed if I didn't have it and coins to pay for new settlers.

The axe is a default tool so when used it wont have any effects on it. The shap axe is a consumable tool that dulls when used to cut trees, bushes and logs to clear land but will not dull when used to craft thing like peg joints. The dull axe can only be crafted into the shap axe in the work shop. The only reason i can possibly think of is to keep people from clearing to much land to quickly or to spend more time gathering resources.

Berry trees are found in the decorations tab of your building and requires berries, leafy branches and nubucks and one person if recall correctly. Once you have these drag and drop into any open flat spot in the world. Berries can be found by gathering shrubs and leafy branches are found in the leaves piled around it is luck on how often you get these items so it may take time to aquire them. The nubucks can be gotten multiple ways level up, task rewards, and sometimes the game hut or be bought with money. Once the first one is grown you can interact with it and harvest berries with a small bucket in your tool shed (not consumed) and water in your in your store house. The amount of water needed goes up the more people harvesting in a one to one ratio, so 5 people will require 5 water.

Are you sure? The game makes those 2 sound like people are more likely to show up if they are built.
I've used a lot of resources on them in the hopes that they'd do what was implied they'd do.

I'm somewhat worried. I'm level 42, and I've built and upgraded the lean-in shelter, as well as built the log cabin, and I'm still stuck at 10 people. My campfire is level 3.
I hope when my additional upgrade on both the lean-in shelter and log cabin finish in a few hours, I get more people, as it's maddening to have been stuck with only 10 people for 4+ days (sort of more like 9, as 1 has been stuck on the 5 day community shelter upgrade).

Answering my own question... after a day or so, the apple tree grew some leaves. Eventually it grew more leaves, and then eventually started producing apples. It took several days (I didn't keep track). Once the tree starts to produce, it works like a farm (5 people x 1 minute = 5 apples) and appears to be good in all seasons.

Yes me too. I thought it was cos I had too many people for the camp capacity so I upgraded the Community Shelter as much as poss. Now I'm sorted on camp capacity but still no tasks! Just doing random things, repairs and going through the kitchen menu making things! And heading off on the odd expedition!

I have a camp capacity of 19 but every time I try to 'add settlers' clicking on the little portraits does nothing. How do I add more people to my camp?
