To create the star gem connect 8 of the same colors but make sure the last one connected is placed where you need it to be to clear that line. Next connect 7 which will give you the bomb. Connecting the bomb and star will give you a greater explosion. 9-10 colors gives you the colored ball to eliminate a certain color.
