Does anyone know how to get rid if the thread rolls?

I passed this level by using my Collapse approach. Choose a color to ignore and then about half way through make one or two long links that will get you a butterfly gem which you can attach to any gem that has a horizontal or vertical line. I finished with 3 butterflies and about 7 moves to spare.
